" Having completed the Healing the Whole Person Yoga For Cancer Course, I would highly recommend it. The course is online, so you can take it at your own pace and in your own environment. It is very easy to access, and Morven's nature is welcoming and really supportive. Over the duration of the course Morven gently encourages you to be more present with yourself, reconnecting with your body, in a way that is loving, kind and nurturing. She breaks the content of each part down with clear suggestions, always giving you ways to tailor it to your individual needs. It's a course that you can revisit when you like, and hopefully one day feel empowered to take the bits you love, to create your own practice with confidence" - Clare T.

Your teacher Morven and how this Yoga for Cancer course came to be
This six-week Yoga for Cancer course is the product of over 15 years' work and study in the field of yoga and mindfulness for cancer. The original 6-week course was called YogaThrive (there are still some YogaThrive class recordings on the Yoga by Nature Podcast) and it was taught live and in-person at Penny Brohn Cancer Care in Bristol. This was way before Covid when PBCC was the nation's top complementary cancer care centre and was in the process of the nationwide launch of its flagship course, Living Well with the Impact of Cancer.

Over many years, cancer patients using the services of the Penny Brohn charity, came and did this course. Some did it once then went back to work, some did it over and over again over a period of six years.

During that time - between around 2010 and 2016 - I was also working as a course facilitator for the Living Well 2-day residential course, working closely wth groups of cancer patients and their loved ones to explore and come to terms with the impact of cancer on the whole person.

Penny Brohn Cancer Care's "whole person" approach to cancer care provided the context and ideology for a truly holistic approach to yoga. The yoga taught in the YogaThrive course became more mindfulness-based and held in the container of an understanding of the psychological, emotional and spiritual impact of cancer on the individual and the community.

After my training as a Mindfulness teacher with Breathworks, the six-week yoga for cancer course evolved further into what is now the Healing the Whole Person approach to yoga and mindfulness for cancer. I have been refining the teachings alongside new research in the field of movement therapy, grief support, trauma healing, nervous system rebalance and cancer treatment.

The offering you see here is the fruit of many years' work, study and practice, carried out with love. I truly hope these yoga classes are a support to you in your journey through cancer, as they have been to many before you.

The Class
Here are some of the amazing participants of the early yoga for cancer classes. We gathered in Bristol at the Penny Brohn centre and at a village hall in Uphill, Weston-super-Mare.

This was an incredible group of people supporting each other through cancer.
