Service Description
Mondays 7.15 - 8.30pm **14th September – 19th October 2026** **In-person course** Living with persistent pain, injury, tension or fatigue can be exhausting. Often, it's not just the physical discomfort that's difficult, but the stress, frustration, worry and self-criticism that can accompany it. This six-week course combines gentle Hanna Somatics-inspired movement with evidence-based mindfulness practices to help you develop a different relationship with pain and discomfort. Each session includes both learning and practice. Through guided mindfulness exercises, meditation, discussion and gentle movement, you'll explore how pain affects the body and mind, and learn practical skills to reduce the cycle of tension, stress and resistance that can amplify suffering. The movement component uses slow, mindful exercises to help retrain the nervous system, releasing habitual patterns of muscular holding that can contribute to pain, restricted movement and fatigue. Rather than stretching or strengthening, the emphasis is on developing awareness, restoring choice and helping the body rediscover greater ease. Alongside movement, you'll learn mindfulness practices drawn from the internationally recognised Mindfulness for Health approach. These practices can help you respond to pain with greater kindness, steadiness and self-compassion, while supporting emotional wellbeing, relaxation and resilience. You'll also receive home practice resources so that you can continue developing these skills between sessions and beyond the course. This course may be particularly helpful if you are: 🧘♀️ Living with persistent pain or chronic health conditions 🧘♀️ Recovering from injury, illness or surgery 🧘♀️ Experiencing chronic tension, stress or fatigue 🧘♀️ Looking for practical ways to manage pain and improve quality of life 🧘♀️ Interested in developing a mindfulness practice in a supportive environment 🧘♀️ Seeking a gentle, accessible approach to movement and wellbeing No previous experience of mindfulness, meditation or yoga is required.
