Am I Good Enough for Yoga Teacher Training? 😬

(Spoiler alert: yes, you are.)
Let’s just put it out there: imposter syndrome is a sneaky little gremlin. Especially when you’re thinking about doing something big and meaningful—like signing up for a 200-hour yoga teacher training.
Maybe you’ve caught yourself thinking things like:
“I can’t even touch my toes.”
“I don’t know all the Sanskrit names.”
“I’m not spiritual enough.”
“Will people find out that I can't do crow pose?”
Sound familiar?
You're not alone. These thoughts are incredibly common, and they’ve probably stopped more would-be yoga teachers in their tracks than tight hamstrings ever did.

Yoga teacher training is not just for the super bendy
There’s a huge misconception floating around that you need to be some kind of yoga goddess who can float into a handstand while chanting in Sanskrit and making a green smoothie with the other hand. You really don’t.
Yoga teacher training is about learning. It's about going deeper into your own practice, understanding the philosophy behind yoga, and discovering your own unique voice—whether you plan to teach or not. It’s not a performance, and it’s not a competition.
Your body, just as it is, is welcome.Your questions, doubts, and messy moments are welcome too.
You’re not supposed to know it all already
Imagine signing up for a cooking course and saying, “But I’m not a Michelin-starred chef!” Well, exactly. That’s why you're taking the course—to learn. Trainees often start the course full of anxiety because they don't know how to teach yoga, and guess what - 100% finish the course confidently teaching yoga -it works!
You’re not expected to arrive with perfect poses, a memorised Bhagavad Gita, or an Instagram-ready practice. You just need a willingness to show up, be curious, and keep an open heart and unlimited herbal tea refills.
Comparison is a tricky beast
Training is not about being the best in the room—it’s about discovering what yoga means to you, in your body and your life.
And finally… if you are being called - listen.
I can tell you this from experience. If something in you is gently nudging you toward yoga teacher training, trust that whisper. You don’t need to feel 100% ready (you probably won’t). You just need to feel willing.
I’ve seen people arrive nervous, uncertain, convinced they were the odd one out—only to find their place, their power, and their passion through the process. That might just be you too.
Some questions to journal about
Take a few minutes in a quiet and comfortable place with a paper and pen, or your notebook. Spend 2 - 5 minutes on each of these questions.
What is your heart's desire?
What part of you is the fear speaking from?
What does your intuitive voice want to say to the fear?
What are the qualities you most admire in your yoga teachers?

Still not sure?I’d be happy to chat through with you what your next steps might be.
