An overview of the workshop

Morven, Amy and Erica invite all women to join us for this therapeutic day where we will holistically address the changing needs of your body and mind through peri /menopause and beyond. The focus will be on minimising menopause symptoms, sleeping well and managing difficult emotions.

We are a yoga teacher, nutritionist and hypnotherapist & coach, offering you a comprehensive immersion into holistic self-care.

The years leading up to your menopause can be a difficult time bringing up both confusing symptoms and feelings.

Anxiety, depression, brain fog, difficulty concentrating, extreme mood swings and wanting to withdraw from the world are all common complaints.  And you won’t be alone if you’ve noticed changes to your sleep; whether that’s difficulty getting to sleep or staying asleep.

During this session, we’ll be focussing on how nutrition and lifestyle can be used to help with your stress levels, support your sleep and bring balance to your fluctuating mood, so that you feel more able to deal with difficult emotions.

Nutrition, movement and lifestyle have a fundamental impact on all of your body systems and you’ll be amazed how implementing some seemingly simple strategies can have profound improvements on your stress, sleep and mood.

In this workshop we’ll have time to discuss the impact stress and lack of sleep is having on your symptoms and talk through strategies you can take home with you to implement immediately. 

The day will begin with a hypnosis induction from Erica, who will guide you into a taster experience to set you up for the full session later on.

Following the induction will be a  women's yoga practice with Morven to support your changing body, with a focus on brain and bone health, nervous system regulation and deep relaxation.  Later in the day, Morven will  lead you in a yoga nidra (yogic sleep) and gong meditation. Relaxation is extremely important for all-round health, as the stress hormone cortisol can negatively affect our physical and emotional resilience. Relaxation and rest help to reduce cortisol and enhance oestrogen and oxytocin production (the good ones). Read more about Morven here

After a break, nutritionist Amy Payne will give a talk on how to eat for menopausal welless. Amy is a mine of information about staying well through eating well, and how nutrition and physical movement blend to create overall wellbeing. Read more about Amy here.

You will be invited to make one of Amy's SIx Peri/Menopausal Wellness Recipes in advance, to bring and share at lunchtime and we'll all share lunch together. You are of course welcome to bring your own individual lunch if you prefer.

After lunch we will divide into smaller groups. Each group will spend 20 minutes in Q&A with each teacher, so you will have the opportunity to address your specific questions about yoga, nutrition, hypnosis and coaching to Morven, Amy and Erica.

After a restorative afternoon yoga session, Erica will then lead you in a wellness coaching session, and then lead a hypnosis for emotional regulation. Erica is a highly experienced hypnotherapist and coach who works one to one and with groups to help people achieve their goals. Read more about Erica here

Hypnotherapy has been shown to a improve many aspects of life during menopause. This includes improving sleep (by reducing night sweats), reducing stress and improving mood. Reducing these pressures may also help reduce the number of hot flushes you experience.

Hypnotherapy for hot flushes works in a few ways. Firstly, it calms down this cooling response, before it even happens.

Have you ever noticed that your hot flushes feel similar to your body's reaction to stress or anxiety. This is your ‘sympathetic nervous’ system in action, stimulating your fight-or-flight response.

Hypnotherapy for hot flushes helps you calm the body's stress response—actively reversing the raised heart rate, the rush of blood,  and the sweating.

Secondly, while you’re in this relaxed and focused state of attention, your subconscious mind can learn new ideas—like adjusting how your brain reacts to normal temperatures. This happens by listening to suggestions for hot flush management, and visualizing cooling situations. We’ll go into this in more detail during the workshop.

Here are some of Erica's words about what she does:

"In Hypnosis, the body and mind assumes “a state of sleep”. Importantly though, you don’t actually sleep, like you do in bed. It is more like a combination of relaxation and focus. Your body goes into deep rest, whilst your brain actually becomes very alert. We all experience this natural state on a daily basis, for example just before we fall asleep, or getting absorbed in a film.

I will then, take you into a wonderful, relaxing hypnotic trance. During the session I will guide you with my words. You will hear everything I say and you will experience everything and remember everything.

Together we are going to positively “re-program” the unconscious part to improve and balance your daily energy levels you are currently experiencing, so you can maintain the changes you’ve made.

Remember, you are in charge of this!. You will leave energised, balanced, fully awake and in completely in tune with your own energy level. Not just on the day itself, but the result will be long lasting."
