Adjustments and Props Teachers Workshop

An experiential course intended for qualified yoga teachers.

You will learn the principles of assisting yoga asana to help your students get the most out of their postures. We'll be looking at hand placement, direction of hand movement, appropriate pressure to use, how to use your whole body as a prop for your student and useful assists for poses in all stations. This course is intended to help you build your confidence, repertoire and experience in adjusting and assisting asana. You will also learn how to discern whether an adustment is necessary and where a prop may be more beneficial.

In the afternoon we will be using props to develop asana - how the prop can become an extension of the body, props for safety and props to bring out the essence of the pose. Every body is different and each student will need to use their props in a different way to get the most out of their practice. As a teacher, you will learn how to guide your students into appropriate and safe use of yoga props.

Many beginner yoga students are resistant to using props because they believe them to be remedial. As you become confident in using and offering props, you'll be able to lead by example so your students will also feel more confident around them.

"This course was one of the most powerful and empowering experiences of my life. I found the holistic approach enlightening and thought provoking and I felt very supported in exploring some big topics and ideas for myself. While I now feel confident to teach yoga, this course hasn’t just facilitated an ability to teach yoga; it has truly developed a bedrock for my whole life."
