Service Description
You could say that yoga is all about balance. Balance is not a static thing, as you will have noticed if you've ever tried to stand on one leg, or if you've ever watched a baby taking her first steps. When we shift our position in relation to gravity, hundreds of adjustments are at play within the body as we dance the merry dance of balance. You may have noticed that when you are feeling upset or distracted or, for women, when you are at a certain point in your cycle, your balance becomes less reliable. Balance requires mental focus, proprioception, core strength and general musculoskeletal stability. In this workshop, you will learn skills to balance well in your yoga postures, and also to stay mentally balanced as you move through life. We'll begin with a complete Hatha yoga practice to warm up, paying particular attention to developing proprioception, core vitality, shoulder and hip stability and mental focus. We will then take a short break before doing some inquiry where you will have the opportunity to tweak your own alignment and develop specific physical skills. Whether you want to work on standing on one leg, or developing complex balances like crow pose you will be supported to grow your own unique practice. We'll close with a guided savasana and meditation. Physical balance creates inner calm and poise, a sense of feeling centred and increased physical intelligence. You are welcome to come and play! It is recommended that you have at least 6 months of yoga practice.
