An overview of the retreat
Morven and friends invite you to Bridport, Dorset in October for an intimate, relaxing three-night stay for up to 16 people at the beautiful Bonhays Retreat Centre. It is the ideal location for quiet reflection as the nights draw in and the landscape glows with colour. Tucked away in the quintessentially English countryside of Dorset and only a short journey from the beach, Bonhays offers a balance of comfort, contemplation and connection to Nature.
Bonhays is a purpose-built retreat centre designed to support quiet reflection and wellbeing. It is set in the Marshwood Vale and beautiful rolling hills of west Dorset, just two miles from the sea and offers an indoor pool to luxuriate in during free time. There are many beautiful country walks including the coastal path nearby, or if you prefer to stay closer to home you can rest in the living room, reading a book by the fire.
ABOUT THE YOGA
The yoga sessions will be taught by Morven, with the first class on Thursday evening being a gentle practice for travellers, followed by a relaxing Yoga Nidra later in the evening to send you off to bed feeling grounded and sleepy.
Each day we will start the day early with a morning walking or sitting meditation for early risers, followed by a wake-up holistic yoga practice before breakfast. The morning yoga will be more dynamic than the gentle evening sessions.
Beginners and seasoned practitioners will be encouraged to explore their limits and deepen their understanding of the body in movement. We will explore the body in relationship to the Earth and space, playing with shapes and conversing with gravity. Much of this work involves developing interoception - your perception of your inner space - taking cues from the inner body about how we can move with more lightness, integrity and grace.
Every yoga practice will include movement (asana), meditation (dhyana), relaxation and breath work (pranayama).
On Saturday there will be an afternoon Mindfulness workshop and a gathering by the fire in the evening. Sunday morning will begin with a meditation and a closing circle before having breakfast and saying goodbyes by 10am.
You will be served three delicious vegetarian meals per day, which will be eaten together as a group in the dining room.
