About the course
This unique six week Intro to Yoga course will guide you through the basics of Hatha Yoga yoga in a friendly, small group of up to 10 participants. Yoga can help you to feel strong, calm and connected in this busy, frazzling world of ours. Click HERE to try a 20 minute class with us for FREE.
Each week you will be taught by one of four Yoga by Nature yoga teachers who each bring their own style and flavour to the practice. You will be introduced to Jane's Hatha style, Mary's Yoga for Calm and Morven's Restorative Yoga, plus an audio of a guided relaxation from Lucy which you can download and keep. We will focus on a different group of poses each week eg forward bends, backbends, twists and you will be able to take your time safely finding your unique optimum alignment and learn how to modify the poses for your body.
We will also be looking at how to breathe well for health and calm, and how the functional breath can help us to access postures and keep the body supple.
You will learn the benefits of each pose and you'll be able to feel the benefits of your yoga practice very soon. A focused and well-paced discovery of yoga can help you to befriend the body, vastly improve body awareness and allow you to develop your own tools for health and well being.
Each week you will take home a handout, detailing the core learning points of the session. You will also receive a weekly link to a short audio or video recording with supporting material in case you would like to keep your practice up at home. You will have lifetime access to the recordings.
The course includes:
6 weekly face to face classes
a free drop-in class - attend any class on the timetable
a weekly handout detailing the objective and concept of the week, key poses and practice ideas
6 short weekly practice videos (10 - 15 mins) to accompany the course material to give you some guidance if you want to do a bit of yoga at home
audio recordings of Yoga Nidra (yogic sleep (deep relaxation)) and key breath work practices for you to do when you need to wind down outside of class hours

The course is open to anyone of any age - if you're worried about being "too old" - plenty of over 50s and over 60s take up yoga and reap the rewards quickly. If you're not sure whether yoga lessons are the right thing for you, get in touch with Morven to discuss your options and which approach will be best.
Week 1 with Jane: Building body awareness. Using energy efficiently. Exploring time-honoured calming techniques
Week 2 with Jane: Grounding. Finding our foundations and moving safely into backbends and standing poses
Week 3 with Morven: Uplifting. Building on our foundations. Weight bearing and forward bends
Week 4 with Jane: Expanding. Exploring space in the body. Focus on twisting poses. Introduction to mindfulness meditation.
Week 5 with Mary: Finding your centre. Core awareness, building neuromuscular connections. Focus on balancing and core strength.
Week 6 with Morven: The broader context of yoga. Focus on hip releasing postures.

Following the beginners course, participants will be able to take advantage of the offer of £10 for unlimited drop-in yoga lessons for one month, then £23 for your next month, reduced from £33.
This will allow you to sample all in-person and online yoga classes on the timetable without having to worry about the cost.
